Oberammergau, Germany - From afar, it is a red-roofed village high in the Alps, some 60 miles from Munich and looks like any other Bavarian hamlet, perhaps a place to sip a fresh wheat beer or explore a glorious hiking trail. And while brews and views abound here, the town is famed for something else and that is a "Passion Play" Every 10 years Oberammergau continues a tradition that began in 1634. It mounts a re-creation of the trail. It is the crucifixion and ascension of Jesus Christ. I believe this is the 42nd iteration, slated to run from May through October of the year of 2020, and expected to bring around a half million travelers and because the event is well attended all tickets sale out very early. However, we know the crucifixion of Jesus Christ took place in the nation of Israel and the ascension from the Mount of Olives this is a performance in Germany of which it will run for about five hours of epic packed pageantry that takes you pass the barriers of language and religion. If that's not your cup of tea, you can always visit the great city of San Francisco, California. Once there you must get to the essence of this great city by the bay and you do that by focusing on the many experiences that embrace the many mixes. First, the Colt Tower- the famed monument rising from downtown's Telegraph Hill and from it spectacular views. Second, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art - it was the West Coast's first modern art museum and now a resent expansion converted it to a striking Snohetta-designed palace. Third, you must visit the man made Golden Gate Park. It will take you all day while there daydreaming about the park's hippie history and that take you back the it's Summer of Love. Forth, and following there is the Amoeba Music Tech, the Castro Theatre, the famed Golden Gate Bridge, also the City Lights in North Beach, The place of movies Crissy Field and one can not leave unstill you step onboard a cable car that climb half way to the sky. Do not miss "Twain Peaks" and Salesforce Park as well as Grace Cathedral. Round it out with a visit to Chinatown...…..
